Palmeiras Prepares for Corinthians Clash
Palmeiras continued its preparations for the Paulista Championship final against Corinthians on Sunday morning, 23, at the Football Academy. The match is scheduled for Thursday, 27, at 9:35 PM at the Neo Química Arena.
After an activation session at the Excellence Center, the players took to the field for a technical drill with specific objectives set by the coaching staff under Abel Ferreira. Next, they engaged in a training session focused on game simulations, including transitions, counterattacks, and other fundamentals. The practice concluded with a small-sided game and a rehearsal of offensive plays.
Bruno Rodrigues, Paulinho, Gustavo Gomez, and Marcos Rocha followed their scheduled programs with the Health and Performance Center. In physical transition, midfielder Mauricio trained normally with the squad. So far this season, the number 18 has played nine matches and scored five goals.
Palmeiras versus Corinthians
This will be the 8th Paulista Championship final between Palmeiras and Corinthians in history, with Palmeiras holding the advantage, having won four titles compared to three for their rivals. The Verdão claimed the trophy in 1936, 1974, 1993, and 2020, while the Alvinegro triumphed in 1995, 1999, and 2018.
Palmeiras and Corinthians have faced each other exactly 20 times in this decade, which began in 2020. The Alviverde has the upper hand, with eight wins, only four losses, and eight draws, scoring 28 goals and conceding 17.

The reigning three-time state champion is aiming for an unprecedented four-peat in the professional era of Paulista football in 2025. Among active clubs, no team has achieved this feat. Throughout history, the only club to win the Paulista Championship four times in a row was the now-defunct Paulistano, from 1916 to 1919. Their streak was broken by Palestra Italia, which won its first title in 1920 against Paulistano.
Verdão, which won a training match 6-1 against Mauense on Friday at the Academy, will train again on Monday, 24, at 10 AM.
